Collaboration and Co-creating a Community Archive
Kicking off with a workshop enables the discussion to unfold how the community wants it. It paves the way for a mutual understanding and respect. (sample video from Khachik, Armenia, 2021)
The Village Elders joining the Scanning Workshop
Without the incredible community spirit, archival projects are doomed to fail. In Armenia, we were able to identify a local project lead in local historian Sona who shared our passion for the concept. Equally, having the major listen to us and help us round up the Elders in 40C heat was beyond what we could have hoped for. But most importantly, the passion that was shared, the enthusiasm once they saw their pictures on screen and the discussion, debate and emotions these pictures provoked created unforgettable moments. For us, sure. But for them too.
